21st Century Tools

This page is a social community for for intrepid souls who want to implement
ecological design now. This is a space to exchange information on the best tools,
best ideas and best practices being implemented in the furtherance of
good ecological design.

This is a place to exchange ideas, connect with likeminded designers, builders,
and educators. It’s a place for practical ideas and solutions to be shared and built
upon. We encourage the DIY spirit while being rigorous in the application of new
methods. We’re looking for multicultural and multi-generational perspectives.
We want to revive the spirit of the Whole Earth Catalogue that helped many to a
life journey of ecological invention and discovery. Blending old and new, developed
and developing, hi and low tech, science and artisanship are the diverse mix we seek.

We want to applaud the work of groups like the New Alchemists who pioneered so
many techniques that inform the best current practices and let people know about
the Greywater Guerillas of the present day.  In short, we hopeyou will help us make
this space the premier site for doing, sharing and learning about ecological design.

Greywater Guerillas   These folks are "building sustainable water culture and infrastructure."

Ocean Arks International, founded in 1981 by visionary Ecological Designer Dr. John Todd, is a global leader in the field of ecological water purification. In response to the alarming rate of natural resource exploitation and depletion, our mission is to disseminate the ideas and practices of ecological sustainability throughout the world. Our motto is, "To Restore the Lands, Protect the Seas and Inform the Earth's Stewards". Since 1982 our publication Annals of Earth has chronicled the work of OAI and of our colleagues around the world. Over the past decade we have begun to explore linkages between ecology and economics, looking to create new kinds of work and enterprise out of environmental protection and restoration initiatives.
